Create A Stylishly Chic Interior With Bold Black & White Stripes

Black and white stripes are a bold but classic trend created by the most extreme contrast of dark and light. The overall feel is chic and clean where the black and white stripes are reminiscent of a Parisian type of fashion style that is simple yet eye-catching. We've captured this style in the mood board below. Monochrome stripes are also very versatile and add a sense of quirkiness throughout a room whether its a pin-striped couch or an accent wall. We found 4 ways to use this classic trend to create an interior that is quirky, unique and classic.

1. Add interest to a room with striped blinds or curtains

Striped blinds or curtains contrast perfectly against cream or white walls but don't shy away from illuminating a room with interesting pops of colour and signature pieces. The rooms below both have intricate chandeliers which bring in a classical feel.

3. Use the floor to set the tone of the room with black and white stripes

You can easily recreate this trend with a statement carpet piece or tiling. By adding black and white stripes to the floor you are directing peoples' focus to a certain point where the lines meet so ensure this point is considered and styled. Like the lines below which end at a modern shower whilst the picture below it has lines that meet at a modern white chair with a tuft of fluff for comfort.

4. Let the walls do the talking

Whether its an accent wall or the entire room that is covered in stripes then try to keep the rest of the interior simple with clean, minimal pieces. There is no need to over decorate with the busy dynamic of the walls.

Tip: Try to incorporate soft or colourful pieces that soften the extreme contrast of light and dark. Consider plush velvet textures or vivid bright pinks.
